Advent lights and Hungarian memories

On Saturday, November 28, 2026, we will depart from Szeged in the morning from the parking lot of the Plaza. After crossing the border at Nagylak, we will arrive in Arad, situated on the banks of the Mureș River, where we will visit the most important sights of the historic center of this city of nearly 150,000 inhabitants: the Cathedral of St. Anthony of Padua, Zala György’s famous Statue of Liberty, Ödön Lechner’s elegant City Hall, the Art Nouveau Palace of Culture, the Ioan Slavici Theatre, and the Monument to the Thirteen Martyrs near the fortress. After some free time in the city center, we will continue to Timișoara, the cultural center of the Banat region and European Capital of Culture in 2023. Located near the city center is the New Millennium Reformed Centre, designed by Imre Makovecz. During our walking tour, we will visit the Opera House, St. George’s Roman Catholic Cathedral, the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral, and Hunyadi Castle. Free time at the Advent market. We will then depart for home. Arrival in Szeged is expected in the evening.
